A short quote by Dr. Bruce Fife, ND. I believe this is one of the best explanations of how MCTs (medium chain triglycerides/good fats) "work" in a living body:
"MCTs are processed differently. When we eat a fat containing MCTs, such as coconut oil, it travels through the stomach and into the small intestine. But since MCTs digest quickly, by the time they leave the stomach and enter the intestinal tract they are already broken down into individual fatty acids (MCFAs). Therefore, they do not need pancreatic enzymes or bile for digestion. Since they are already reduced to fatty acids as they enter the small intestine, they are immediately absorbed into the portal vein and sent straight to the liver. In the liver they are preferentially used as a source of fuel to produce energy. MCFAs bypass the lipoprotein stage in the intestinal wall and in the liver. They do not circulate in the bloodstream to the degree that other fats do. Therefore, they do not supply the fat that collects in fat cells nor do they supply the fat that collects in artery walls. MCFAs are used to produce energy, not body fat and not arterial plaque." You can read more from Dr. Fife at OfSpirit.com

Hello Gale,
We are not producing our foods at this point in time. We hope to begin producing our foods at some point in the future. In the meantime we plan on making our very unique and natural toys sometime next year in order to build capital to produce our foods again. But for the present time our only interest is in continuing education for the avian community, there is so much all of us need to educate ourselves about in regards to keeping a safe and healthy environment for these wonderful creatures!
In addition, at some future point I will be addressing each and every species individually. At the present time I am attempting to address issues and topics that pertain to all species so that my readers will have a vast array of topics from which to draw understanding and help about anything they might have questions about.
Also, please keep in mind that we will be re-opening under a non-profit status along with a private foundation status so that we can both continue our nutritional research as well as donate our profits to a well-deserving parrot rescue/sanctuary we personally hand pick.
Thank you for your interest,
Machelle
