Some are asking if “Autumn Olive Berry” aka Japanese Silverberry is safe to offer to our feathered friends.
The short answer is “yes!”
Instead of a long post written by me, here is a link you can visit to an article written by Dr. Brent Black of Utah State University: http://www.fruit.cornell.edu/berry/production/pdfs/autumnolive.pdf
*Remember, this berry will probably contain a high amount of naturally occurring histamines and salicylates. Therefore due to these contstituents in this berry it will most likely trigger picking and plucking in feather-destroying birds.
Enjoy and Happy Foraging!
