Here are a few salsas created just for our flocks and to celebrate the 2018 New Year with them!

As always, wash all of your produce in 3% food grade Hydrogen Peroxide and then rinse well before cutting.
Cranberry Salsa for Parrots:
- Cranberries – Fresh, organic: 1 cup. Dice cranberries to a coarse grind.
- Yellow Bell Pepper – Fresh, organic: 3/4 cup diced. Dice pepper to a coarse grind.
- Apples – Fresh, organic: 1/4 cup. Small-diced. With or without the peel.
- Jalapeno Chili Pepper – Fresh, organic: 2 Tsp. finely diced.
- Lime – Fresh, organic: 1 whole lime diced into small chunks. Use the peel and meat of the lime.
- Mint – Fresh, organic. 1 Tblsp leaves only. Finely diced.
- Walnuts – Organic coarsely ground.
- Cayenne Pepper – Organic. Scant dash.
Mix all ingredients.
Serve slightly chilled.

Mango Salsa for Parrots:
- Mango – Fresh, organic, peeled:1 1/2 cups cut into small to medium chunks.
- Pomegranate – Fresh, organic, seeds/fruit without skin. 1/4 cup.
- Red Bell Pepper – Fresh, organic: 1/8 cup large-diced.
- Cucumber– Fresh, Organic. 1/8th cup large-diced. With or without the peel.
- Parsley – Fresh, organic. 2 tsp. Leaves only. Finely diced.
- Serrano Pepper – Fresh, organic: 1 to 2 tsp finely diced.
- Pomegranate – Fresh, organic, seeds/fruit without skin. 1/4 cup.
- Macadamia nuts, Almonds or Cashews– Organic. Large-diced.
- Anise or Fennel Seed– Organic. About 1 tsp. to taste.
Mix all ingredients.
Serve slightly chilled.

Pomegranate Salsa for Parrots:
- Pomegranate Seeds – Fresh, organic. Without skin. 1 cup.
- Oranges – Fresh, organic: Use peel and fruit. Cut into small to medium chunks.
- Green Bell Pepper – Fresh, organic. 1/8th cup. Coarse-diced.
- Wax Peppers – Fresh, organic. 1.5 tsp. Finely diced.
- Cilantro – Fresh, organic. Leave only. 1 tsp finely diced.
- Coriander Seed – Organic. 1/2 to 1 tsp.
- (Or if you prefer much hotter, use Habanero Chilis. Fresh, organic. 1/2 to 3/4 tsp.)
- Pine Nuts – Organic: 1 to 2 Tbsp. Whole.
Mix all ingredients.
Serve slightly chilled.

If you would like to make any of the above salsas a tad tart, add 1 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar to the mix.
*These salsas are not “feather-destroyer friendly” and may trigger a plucking episode in birds that engage in feather destruction and/or self-mutilation.
